Science and gender equality are both vital for the achievement of the internationally agreed development goals, including the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In order to achieve full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls, and further achieve gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls, the United Nations General Assembly declared February 11th as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.

This Day is an opportunity to promote full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls.

Mediterranean institute for life science - MedILS joined global celebration by organizing a ceremony dedicated to women and girls in science. 

Celebration took place as a part of European Regional Development Fund project “Research on the biology of aging and aging-related diseases” funded through EU’s Operational program Competitiveness and cohesion.

shared their inspiring career journeys and motivation for science. They stressed the importance of passion for research as a driving force for full engagement in scientific work, but also the necessity of supportive environment and communication.
